It is an extremely weird and sort of surreal experience to be coasting through your RSS feed–which, in my case, is a very random conglomeration of science, politics, mommy blogs, writing, book reviews, friends, and World of Warcraft–and suddenly see your name in the title of a blog post.
It’s like the internet just yelled at you.
Fortunately, for me, in this case, it was a nice yell. Mean Old Bat liked the characters, enjoyed the read, and gave it a C+, which from her is a solidly acceptable grade.
Anyway, I decided to use a free day so that any of her readers could pick them up if they felt so inclined, so tomorrow, January 3rd, both books and the short story will be free on Amazon. If you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to spread the word. Thanks!

Picked up a Gift of Ghosts on Amazon on a free day. Enjoyed the story and the homage to Eureka. Loved that series. My only criticism is the name of your main character Akira. Just too soon to use that as a mainstream name. Makes you kind of appear as an anime' absorbed high school or college kid. It kept distracting me from the story and making me wonder about you and seemed amateurish. But if its what made you have fun writing and enjoying your character–so be it. You have to start somewhere. Just take it as kindly criticism from someone who reads a lot and wants to read a lot more 🙂

Ah, you give me far too much geeky credit! (Not that I mind, I am a happy geek, just not one who knows anything about anime or manga.) The Japanese girl's name Akira means intelligent. I'd never heard of the animated Akira when I wrote. Glad you enjoyed the book!
